Mary Walsh

Mary Lawlor, Chief Executive Officer

Mary Lawlor was appointed as Chief Executive of Carlow County Development Partnership CLG in 2002, having previously held the position of Chief Executive of Carlow LEADER Company. During her 15 year career at senior management level, she has been directly involved in many of the significant developments within both companies and in particular the strategic transformation in response to a rapidly changing external environment. Her previous background includes roles within the pharmaceutical and financial sectors.

Mary graduated from University College Cork in 1999 with a Master’s Degree in Business Studies, specialising in Entrepreneurship.  She also holds a Degree in Business Management, a Diploma in Human Resource Management and qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety, Career Coaching and is a qualified adult tutor. 

Karl Duffy

Karl Duffy, Social Inclusion Manager

Karl Duffy was appointed Social Inclusion Manager in September 2014. He oversees and manages the national anti-poverty Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme (SICAP) of which Carlow County Development Partnership CLG is Programme Implementer on behalf of the LCDC. He is also Manager of the Carlow Jobs Club which delivers personal development and skills training to unemployed individuals wishing to return to the marketplace. Throughout his career, Karl has focused on the different personal, social and psychological factors which impact upon the development of the individual and of society, having worked in the Health Service, as CEO of Action South Kildare, a community development group, as a mental health professional and therapist in private practice in Geneva and Ireland, while also lecturing in psychology. He has also worked intensively in the areas of Wellness,  Stress Reduction and Mindfulness with individuals,  groups and organizations, such as the World Health Organization and the Red Cross.

Karl’s qualifications include an M.A in Psychology, M.A in Theology, B.A in Philosophy, Diploma in Facilitation Skills, and has been trained as a Mindfulness Stress Reduction Trainer in the University of Massachusetts Stress Reduction Clinic.  He is an Associate Professor of Psychology in the University of Webster, Geneva.
