The value of the Tús scheme for the long term unemployed is that it gives vital work-related experience and can lead to employment, especially in Retail,  Healthcare Sector, Childcare Sector, Special Needs Organisations and Hospitality.  Furthermore, it provides a daily structure and builds confidence through the learning of new skills.

  • 17 Tús participants support the work of 13 community organizations:
  • The Forward Steps Family Resource Centre,
  • Teach Bhride,
  • Cairdeas Centre.

The LEADER programme provided financial support towards the development of the Tullow GAA Walkway which has become very popular for those who wish to keep healthy in the community.

LEADER also supported the development of the facilities at the Tullow Tennis Club allowing for the development of three fabulous new floodlit courts.

The SICAP Programme supported the Active Future Programme in collaboration with Carlow IT and the Tullow School Completion Service, in Tullow Community School, which gave inputs on nutrition/healthy living, ran a non-sports fitness activity and helped students develop a personal wellness plan.

The Rural Social Scheme has one participant in the Tullow area
