Carlow County Development Partnership CLG

Confined call for proposals of a community nature in specific disadvantaged geographic areas.

The socio-economic profile of Carlow and the consultation process undertaken by Carlow County Development Partnership CLG for the National Rural Development (LEADER) Programme identified a number of geographic areas in Carlow that required more tailored interventions to address socio-economic challenges in their communities.

These geographic areas are;

  • Rathvilly,
  • Hacketstown,
  • Graiguecullen,
  • Bagenalstown and,
  • the Tullow Road Area in Carlow Town

The aforementioned community consultation has already identified the need to provide a range of flexible and outreached actions to support the above named geographic areas including, but not limited to;

  • Completion of training needs analysis
  • Provision of training, including professional expertise & mentors to enable groups to complete local resource audits/challenges and opportunities.
  • Development of local community action plans
  • Training and development to assist community groups to successfully undertake capital projects
  • Feasibility study to identify optimal build/design or service delivery approach
  • Project management support
  • Grant aid for capital works

Capital works may attract up to 90% grant aid of eligible invoiced costs while training and mentoring may attract up to 100% grant aid of eligible invoiced costs.  Maximum Grant aid is €200,000 for capital works and training.  Research/feasibility maximum grant is €30,000.

Before we develop a programme of supports for the above geographic areas and publish a call for proposals, we want to ensure that we fully understand your needs.

In this regard, Community Groups from the above geographic areas are invited to attend a meeting on Monday, 18th of September, 2017 at 7 pm in Mount Wolseley Tullow to discuss the nature and scale of specific supports needed in their communities and which also can be addressed by the National Rural Development (LEADER) Programme.

It is expected the meeting will start at 7 pm and conclude no later than 8.15 pm

At the conclusion of the meeting, those in attendance will be clear as to whether the National Rural Development (LEADER) Programme can support their proposal(s) and the steps involved in accessing support.
